Power Plant Filter Bag
Our life is incomplete without electricity nowadays, after the 19th century manual labor shifted to machinery starting a new wave of technological development. We use electricity for lighting, heating, cooling, and refrigeration, for medical purposes, computers, for public transportation systems, and much more.
The main sources of electricity production are thermal power plants, hydropower plants, wind power plants, solar power plants, and so on. From these plants, the hydropower and wind power plant generate electricity through wind or water respectively but in thermal power plants, coal is the main component used to generate electricity.
China And India are the top 2 countries, that produce electricity 4,631 TWh and 947 TWh respectively. In India, 71% of electricity is generated by thermal power plants. More than 62% of electricity is produced through coal exclusively.
Generation Of Electricity in Power Plant
In the thermal power plant coal is burnt to heat the boiler to a high temperature to produce steam. This super heated steam is used to rotate a steam turbine to which a power generator is connected resulting in the generation of electricity.
To generate electricity power plants use different processes which result in the particulate matter being released into the environment causing a high degree of air pollution. Thermal power plants are a major source of air pollution in many countries across the globe. The pollution caused by these power plants is severe enough People whore are residing near power plants fired by coal are more prone to respiratory illnesses as they have a comparatively higher exposure to particulate matter. The PM 10 and PM 2.5 levels of the surrounding area are usually found to be higher than the prescribed limits as well.
Coal storage, coal handling, boiler, ash handling, ash storage, ash discharge, and transportation are the major contributors to the release of particulate matter from thermal power plants.
How To Overcome The Issue Of Air Pollution
To overcome the issue of air pollution, the central pollution control board and state pollution control boards along with the national green tribunal prescribe the limit of pollutants a thermal power plant is allowed to release into the environment.
Bag Filter Dust collectors, Cyclones, and Electrostatic separators are widely used to control, reduce and collect particulate matter being released from the thermal power plants. Amrit Filtration Equipments manufactures the following products used in dust collection bag filter systems…
